join 表达参与某一团体、组织、机构，并作为其中一员（如：进党、进团、进会、参军等）；
join可以直接跟sb.，表达“加进某人（正在进行的活动）”。
He joined the Labour Party/this company in 1999. 
他1999年加进了工党/这家公司。 

show是演出表演，应该是参与某个活动，用join in，join in the show。
